< 1 min read

HIV Estimates data is critical for planning and understanding the magnitude of the HIV and AIDS epidemic.

UNAIDS and partners over the years have supported countries to estimate the impact of HIV at the national and sub-national levels.

The generation of Ghana’s HIV estimates is primarily based on:

  • HSS-HIV Sentinel Surveillance among pregnant women attending
  • Antenatal Care (ANC) Clinic
  • DHS: National population-based survey which includes HIVTesting
  • Program Data:ART and PMTCT
  • Other: Demographic and epidemiological assumptions
